A high res photo of the Soldiers National Monument at the Cemetery at Gettysburg National Military Park. There was something sacred and moving about this memorial at sunset with the surrounding tombstones covered in beautiful Christmas wreaths The air was clear, crisp and very cold. This is hallowed ground. This monument honors the battles soldiers. It tells an allegory of "peace and plenty under freedom following a heroic struggle."
A large statue representing the concept of Liberty sits atop the pedestal.
The Soldier statue, lower left represents War, and he is recounting the battle as the lower right statue "History" records the achievements of the battle and the names of the honored who fell. Two other statues not in view on the other side represent Peace and Plenty.
